The days of the misc graduate

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 2, 2008, 11:40 PM
So, I'm out of school and I have this WONDERFUL feeling of responsibility for my own reading now! I like it. It's kind of brilliant. I can read what I want, take what I want from it, say what I want about it, not write essay's on it, ex cetera, ex cetera. In all, I'd say the best "gift" I've gotten out of this sudden release from school is TIME TO READ. Seriously. I love it. I can read books, fanfiction, manga, graphic novels in general...it's a wonderful world and it doesn't really have a schedule. Although, I still get up at eight so that I can be alive during the cooler part of the day. From 1 o'clock to about 8 o'clock, it's hard to feel mobile. So when I wake up at eight, I get a good five hours in of, you know, livable temperature. The rest of the time is just...melt. Which is cool whatever. I can't really worry about something that I can't control (shrug). I hate when people talk about the weather as though it's out to get them.

Anywho. So, I was planning to go to Poland (yes, Poland. Why? Why not) in November, BUT I've got a good opportunity to make some money over the winter. Money=longer stay overseas. Which is a good equation, hm? My uncle has offered that I stay at his place in Edmonton and for those not well-versed in Canadian economics, that city is bloody BOOMING with work. You can work at a bloody KFC for about twelve, thirteen, fourteen dollars an hour. MADNESS. And an advantage of living in Edmonton, is that I'm 1000 KILOMETRES AWAY FROM HERE. This, for me, is the equivalent of heaven. And to top it all off, my uncle is actually pretty cool, and it'd be a nice break from the whole parent situation I'm reckoning most people deal with after they've been living under the same roof with them for about eighteen odd years. I think it's time for a break, neh?

Another advantage of Edmonton: CONCERTS. I know I shouldn't blow my money on concerts, but I think I'll be able to keep my head and pick and choose so that I don't spend too much (shrug).

My neighbour thinks that I smoke.

So, my neighbour, a lovely lady, though I can't put a face to her at the moment, is moving out and left me a gift. It's a glass thing. For smoking. For smoking what, I'm not sure. Here's the note; [link]

So, it's this glass thing, that looks a bit like a pipe but only goes down halfway through and then there's a little compartmenty thing with a small hole into it. It's really pretty, but I guess what I'm asking is if it's drug paraphernalia? Hahaha...if it is, this isn't the first time someone's thought that I do drugs. But oddly enough, I don't, which often comes as a surprise to people. I don't even drink, and whenever, if ever I do (I don't actually have anything against it so much as I'm not interested) it won't be just plain old beer. If you're going to drink, I reckon that it should at least be something more interesting than something that's mostly sugar. I want to try Absinthe when I get out to Eastern Europe (shrug).

Whatever, it's pretty so I'm keeping it : )

it's OVER. And there's music.

So I did my last exam, and it was epic. Well, the first half of the multiple guess was an epic fail, but I think I've done alright :) For the sight passage they gave us a poem by Thomas Hardy about the sinking of the Titanic, "The Convergence of the Twain" and asked us to write a paragraph on how it was ironic -_-. Erm...yes. And then there was a question about Hamlet (and three other Shakespeare works) and they gave us a passage and asked ``Has Hamlet changed?". Erm...no, circumstance changes, not people. Then finally, another choice between three, "What types of love are explored in the course" was essentially the question that I choose to do. I wrote about misinterpreted love, the love of nature and referenced a whole bloody stanza of "The Hollow Men" in a paragraph about the love of life (don't ask). Kick. Ass.

Anywho, right now I'm taking a break from the mad happenings of the Midsummer music festival. It's been raining and weève been camping, but phwoar! fun! Some great music...havenèt danced yet, but I definately will sojourn into the mud today. This great guy, Chris Wagner or something, from Saskatchewan (he stressed this point), came up last night as my friends and I were huddled as garbage bag people (ponchos) and started free-styling O_x! It was fun, but then he came back and started hitting on "Juliet" (wrong name, she's Juliya!). Still fun, and apparently he wasn't on anything. Or so he claims (Who really cares).

I love hippy festivals.

It's almost over...

Highschool is almost over. People are making a much bigger production of it than I'd like, just like with...Christmas, or Easter, or...Thanksgiving or any other variety of holiday that involves...food! Haha, but honestly, I'm flattered with all the pomp and circumstance, but honestly, you know?

I finally got a look at my transcript; apparently last semester I scored 91% on my History exam O_x. It actually brought my mark up. I'm chalking this up the the essay. I can always save myself with the essay. It'll look good for applying at Concordia. Which has dorms :D (Which Emily Carr doesn't).
